Juanita Becker

August 5, 1928 — November 13, 2016

Juanita June Becker passed away on November 13, 2016 after many years of struggling with dementia. She was born on August 15, 1928 in Bland, MO and lived in Prairie Village, KS and Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her son, David; her husband, Verlon; and her sister, Ramona.

She and Verl started Verl Custom Tailor in 1958 on the Country Club Plaza. She helped him in the early years and then moved on to her lifelong passion of collecting antiques, eventually opening her own store, Chateau Antiques. Her favorite items were angels, lions, cupids, rams, and cats like her cream Persian, Shamey and her Siamese, Serena. Her faith was strong and allowed her to weather life’s difficulties. She and Verl had been members of Zion Lutheran Church until it closed. In her last years she went with her family to United Methodist Church of the Resurrection until she was no longer able to attend.

Juanita is survived by her son, Paul Cameron Becker and wife, Melanie of Overland Park; grandson, Cameron David Becker and wife, Lisa of Germany; and nine loving nieces and nephews.

Juanita so loved her only grandchild and cherished her time with him when she lived in Scottsdale and he attended ASU. Cameron and Lisa were able to visit and perform for her and other residents at the nursing home several times over the years.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 19 from 1-2PM, service at 2PM, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS.
