Judith Ruth (Robinson) Needham, 73, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013, at her home in Overland Park, KS.
Judith was born February 19, 1940, in Rosebud, South Dakota on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation. She grew up in Omaha, NE, where she graduated from Central High School. Judith was a student in pre-med at KU when her mother became ill and she left school to care for her. Later she went on to Johnson County Community College for her AA in Administration of Justice. Judith was a past officer of Kansas ACLD. She earned her Private Pilot's License in 1982, her Advanced Ground School Instructor in 1983 and was a Written Test Examiner for the FAA for 13 years. She was a Pinch Hitter Instructor and Private Pilot Instructor for AOPA from 1982 to 1986. Judith was also a past member of the 99's (Women's Pilot Association).
For the past 30 years Judith and her husband traveled all over the world to Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Her life was full. She was blessed with having many wonderful friends and a truly generous Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard O. and Maxine Mae Robinson; sister, Gwendolyn Burns; and nephew, Matthew A. Burns.
Judith is survived by her second husband of 33 years, William Richard Needham and his five children; two children, Gregory Joseph Maugh of Shawnee, KS and Fifi Ra Hagadone of Tracy, CA; two grandchildren, Cody Maugh and Brooke Hagadone; niece, Julie A. Strom; and aunt, Darlene Oliver.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2013, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Interment will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, NE. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
