Julia Koehler Moore

Julia Catherine Koehler Moore, RN, 76, Roeland Park, KS, passed away January 11, 2007.

Julia was born October 23, 1930 to Willmar and Henrietta Koehler in Kansas City. She was a life long resident of Johnson County. Julia graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural (North) High School in 1949. While at Shawnee Mission, she played first chair French horn in band, orchestra as well as many ensembles and played with distinction in many area music contests. Julia then entered St. Luke?s School of Nursing and was capped in 1952. She worked at St. Luke?s Hospital in surgery, floor charge, emergency and pre-op holding capacities. Julia spent her life caring for others.

Julia enjoyed playing tennis and she coordinated the Kansas City area junior tennis league for several years. After her retirement from nursing, she volunteered many hours at Kaleidoscope

Julia is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Leonard: son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Carolyn Moore: grandchildren, Jennifer and Kevin Moore. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Willmar and Norma Koehler; nephew Ed Koehler and niece Erica Flavin.

Services will be at 3pm Saturday, January 13, 2007 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons, Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Cemetery, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2003 NE Engelwood Road, KC, MO 64119, or the charity of your choice.
