Julia Kracht-Hoobery

April 7, 1929 — January 31, 2016

Julia May Kracht-Hoobery, age 86 of Olathe, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on January 31st, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Cloyd Kracht. Julia is survived by her husband Joe Hoobery, daughter Debbie Krebs, son Stephen Kracht, sister Roberta McGuire, grandchildren Allison Krebs, Ryan Kracht & Ashley Erasmus, and step daughter Diana McElwain & family.
Julia was born April 7th, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ruth & Oscar Brown. She was married to Cloyd “Red” Kracht for 62 years. She and Red were very involved with Youth For Christ where they met Joe & Joyce Hoobery. They all became great friends and traveled the world together. After the hardship of losing their spouses, Joe & Julia found great companionship in one another and were married in July of 2011. Joe and Julia continued their adventures and travels together over the past 4 years. Julia loved her family more than anything and was always very involved with her kids, Debbie & Steve’s, many school activities; including Home Room Mother, Blue Bird & Campfire Leader, and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.

In the 70’s Julia and a dear friend managed a gift shop in Mission, Kansas called “The Gift Spot.”
She later went on to work at the Jones Store in the customer service department for many years until she retired to spend more time with her grandkids.
Julia, better known as “Grammy” to her 3 grandkids, loved to spoil them (and countless others) with extravagant parties, beautiful gifts, delicious meals, fun outings, and much more. She loved all children and was very involved with Vacation Bible School for many years at Overland Park Bible Chapel.

Julia had an extremely generous and caring heart, always putting others above herself. She was constantly preparing meals for people when they were sick or in need, even when she herself was not at her best.

She was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed by many.
