Julie Anne Ptacek, daughter of Phil and Karen Ptacek, went into the arms of her Savior Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the age of 23. She was surrounded by the love and care of her family and staff of St. Luke?s Hospital who had become her friends. She was a beautiful, vivacious redhead with a flair for fashion and great wit. She inspired all who knew her with her strength and endurance during her long illness. Julie attended Notre Dame de Sion High School and had hoped to graduate Saint Louis University and return to Sion as an English teacher. Everything she went through caused us to become more compassionate and to value the gift of life and family.
Julie will be greatly missed by her 3 brothers, Jason and his wife Jennifer, Bryan, and Kyle; her sister KateLynn; grandparents Bonnie Ptacek, David and Terry Hahlen; as well as many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and friends. She was proceeded in death by her grandfather J R Ptacek.
While at the gathering of family and friends Saturday, June 30th, 5 to 8 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS, you will have the opportunity to record a personal message for the family that they will cherish for years to come. A memorial service celebrating Julie?s life will follow on Sunday, July 1 at 3 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 14200 Kenneth, Leawood, KS. The family requests no flowers. Rather, Julie would have wanted donations to the Lupus Foundation, 6700 Troost, Kansas City, Missouri 64131 in her memory. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.dwnewcomers.com.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for all those who have helped Julie thru her struggles, especially the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Luke?s.
