Julie Katherine Serati passed peacefully on April 2, 2021 following her courageous seven-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Julie was a loving wife to Brian Serati and wonderful mother to Jordan, Jacqueline, and Joseph. Julie was known for her radiant personality - she left a profound impact on every person she met. Julie was born January 23, 1969 in Memphis, Tennessee to Robert and Judy Naro. She was a sister to Wally Roberts and Jennifer Fallon. She married her love, Brian Serati, on June 4, 1994. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, daughter-in-law, and friend.
Julie’s passion in life was her family. She gave everything she had to ensure the safety and happiness of her three children. Julie spent much of her time in the kitchen perfecting new recipes and hosting nightly dance parties. Everyone knows Julie and everyone loves her; her family jokes that she makes a new friend every time she goes to the grocery store. She never missed a chance to be in the spot light with a Karaoke solo or accompanying a local band with her tambourine skills. She loved to cheer on her Jayhawks, dress up at Dolores, and enjoy a glass of wine on the back patio with the love of her life. She was the life of every party and a friend to all.
The most defining aspect of Julie Katherine was her unwavering faith; people’s eternities will look different because of Julie. Even at the time of her diagnosis she felt a peace that transcended all fear or anxiety. She relied on Jesus for her strength and He blessed her with a multitude of miracles, including the total absence of pain throughout her battle.
It would be wrong to say that Julie lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. In the end, she returned home to our Lord and Savior on the most holy of days, Good Friday. Through her, we now know what resiliency and perseverance looks like. She will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and her legacy of laughter, love, and generosity will live on with us all forever.
Julie’s internment will take place at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210 on Friday, April 9th at 3:00 pm (private event - family only).
