Mrs. June Mefford

June D. Mefford (nee McLemore), 87, of Shawnee, KS, formerly of Belleville and Edwardsville, IL passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home, Overland Park, KS.
She was born June 25, 1923 in East St. Louis, IL to the late George and Lena (nee Korreck) McLemore. She was a graduate of East St. Louis Senior High School. On January 5, 1946 June married the love of her life Thomas Mefford. They enjoyed square and round dancing, traveling and volunteer work at Belleville Memorial Hospital where June gave over 17,000 hours of service as a Life Member. She was retired from Salvage & Bridges Insurance Company in Belleville and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Shawnee, KS.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Thomas S. Mefford, brother Terrell McLemore, daughter-in-law Lynn Mefford and brother-in-law Gerald Mefford.
Surviving are her children John Mefford of Granite City, IL and Marcia (John) Ancer of Shawnee, KS; granddaughters Winona (Adam) Patterson of Cincinnati, OH, Jeanne Giraudier of Eugene, OR and Jodi (Mat) Sienkiewicz of Collinsville, IL; great grandchildren Megan & Alex Patterson and Cole & Rylan Sienkiewicz.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, September 3 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 Waters St. at Fillmore, Edwardsville, IL with Rev. Marty Springer officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Belleville Memorial Hospital Foundation or Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, Shawnee Mission, KS.
