Kathleen Mary Beatty (“Kay”) made a peaceful transition in her sleep early in the morning of October 29, 2016. She was 94 years young. Kay was the youngest, and last surviving, child of Henry and Catherine Barth of Denver, Colorado. A life-long Catholic, Kay and her brothers: Leonard, Henry, Robert and Florian, attended St Elizabeth’s school in downtown Denver. She married Dr. Eugene C Beatty Jr, a pathologist from Denver, Colorado, on September 22, 1945. They lived in New York, California and Denver, finally settling in Overland Park, Kansas in 1968. They were married for 48 years, until Eugene’s passing in 1993. Kay was a devoted and loving mother to her 5 children, all of whom survive her: Susan Kay Tomazin, Mark Douglas Beatty, and Brian Joseph Beatty of Denver; and Paul Eugene Beatty and Bruce Henry Beatty of Bonner Springs and Overland Park, KS, respectively. She was adored by her 17 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren, and a beloved mother in law.
Kay was a 30+ years active member and past Secretary of the Ladies of Charity, Metropolitan Kansas City. She volunteered at the Children’s Mercy Hospital Gift Shop for more than 30 years and in various capacities at St Joseph Hospital for 15+ years.
