Kathleen M. Rohr, 88, of Leawood, KS, passed away April 30, 2009. Kay was born in Demar, KS to Nora Bedard and Hubert Brin. She grew up in Plainville, KS and attended Marymount College in Salina, KS. She then moved to Washington, DC and was employed by the State Department. On July 15, 1946 she married Ignatius R. Rohr of Hays, KS, and after living in Manhattan, KS while he attended Kansas State University, they settled in Overland Park, KS.
After raising six children Ig and Kay welcomed travel opportunities and enjoyed living in Seattle, WA, Palo Alto, CA and retiring in San Diego and Kansas City. She enjoyed bridge, oil painting, golf and gardening. Kay dedicated her life and tireless spirit to supporting her husband and family. Her counsel and moral conviction will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignatius Rohr in 2001. Survivors include; two brothers and one sister, Don Brin of Hays, KS, Bill Brin of Hollister, CA and Louise Bolt of Enid, OK; six children, Dale Rohr and his wife Mary of Leawood, KS, Lynn Jones and her husband Randy, of Monument CO, Jack Rohr and his wife Kathi, of Overland Park, KS, Sheila Brennan and her husband Jack, of Leawood, KS, Matt Rohr and his wife Angie of Sunol, CA and Mark Rohr of Redding, CA. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be on Sunday, May 3rd from 4-6:00 p.m., with a rosary prayed at 6:00 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimers Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
