Kathleen Haberle Symes, 91, passed away Saturday June 5, 2010, in Kansas City, Mo. Kathleen, nicknamed "Teent," was born on April 20, 1919, in Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter and only child of Mr. and Mrs. Warren J. Haberle of Syracuse. Kathleen graduated from Roger's Hall School in Lowell, Mass., and attended Syracuse University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In the 1950s, Kathleen and her husband relocated to the Kansas City area. She was a member of the Junior League and retained a lifelong love of antiques, especially antique china. This led her to become a licensed Haviland china appraiser, and eventually she became an entrepreneur, starting Teent's French Haviland, a china matching service. Kathleen was preceded by her husband of 41 years, George G. Symes. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen MacKenzie, and a grandson, Richard Porter, both of Kansas City, Mo. There will be a graveside service at a later date. (Arr.: D.W. Newcomer's and Sons Johnson County Chapel, 913-451-1860. Fond memories and condolences for the family at www.johnsoncountychapel.com)
