Kathleen (Kay) Aziere Huff, 87, was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother (Mimi), friend, and nurse, Kay was born January 22, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles and Doris Aziere. Kay was the first born of twins. She and her twin sister, Frances (Fran) were very close and often referred to each other as ‘wombmates’. Their father, Charlie, often referred to the two as double trouble.
Kay graduated with a nursing diploma after attending St. Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas and Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas. She enjoyed her career as a registered nurse for over 55 years, taking time off to raise her two children. Her expertise was in the field of surgery
Kay was first introduced to her soon to be husband, Richard (Dick) Huff, by her twin sister. Kay and Dick were united in marriage on August 20, 1966 at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church and were together for 53 years, until Dick’s death in September, 2019. Kay is survived by her two children, son, Steve (Debbie) Huff, and daughter, Kelly (Jim) Korroch, and her twin sister, Frances (John) Sankey. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Ryan (Tressa) Lindsay, Braxton Huff, Avary Huff and Brendan Huff. Kay also leaves behind “Boo”, her beloved cat.
Kay was a member of Cure’ of Ars Catholic Church and her passions included her family, classical music, opera, Broadway musicals, feeding the birds, reading, flowers, especially daisies, New York City and her pets. Kay and Dick encouraged their children to pursue their passion for ice skating and Kay was a devoted skating mom. The couple enjoyed music, opera and theater and attended many performances at the Kauffman Center. They also enjoyed travels to Japan, North Africa, Turkey and Europe. She would have loved owning a villa in Taormina, Sicily, which she believed was the loveliest place on earth.
Visitation, 11am with Funeral Mass following at 12pm, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Cure’ of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas.
Burial will be at the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Road, Lenexa, Kansas.
