Kenneth Frank Luecke

On January 4, 2022, Kenneth Frank Luecke passed away peacefully at the Sunrise Senior Living Center in Leawood, Kansas.  His wife, Judy Luecke, and daughter, Suzanne Davis, were present during his final hours.  Ken died just 8 days before his 90th birthday.  He lived a full life and struggled valiantly with dementia during his final year.  He fought this illness with the same directness and determination that he brought to all of life’s challenges.

Ken was born in St. Louis on January 12, 1932, to Frank and Lillian Luecke during the height of the Great Depression.  He was an excellent student and was admitted to Washington University in 1950.  He received a BS degree in Accounting in 1954 and completed the ROTC program during his college career.  He married Nancy Marie Rotchford in 1954.  He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Army and stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas after graduation.

After serving two years in the US Army, Ken accepted a position with the General Accounting Office in St. Louis.  He retired from the GAO as assistant regional manager of the Kansas City office in 1986.  During his 30-year career, he specialized in military, foreign aid, and US Postal Service audits.  His career was spent in the St. Louis and Kansas City offices with a two-year assignment in Frankfort, Germany from 1963-65.

Ken was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy.  They shared a very happy and fruitful marriage of 46 years.  Their son, Christopher Michael, was born in 1955.  Daughters Suzanne Mary, and Maureen Theresa were born in 1957 and 1959 respectively.  Ken married Judith Ann Pemberton in 2003 and spent a happy 17 years together.  Ken is survived by his three children, 11 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and his wife Judy.
