Kenneth M. Stewart, 92, of Overland Park, KS passed away on November 17, 2013.
Kenneth, the son of Louis and Mayme Stewart, was born in Wellington, MO. His family moved to Lamont, MO where he graduated from Lamont High School class of 1939. He went on to the University of Missouri where he graduated in 1943. During World War II, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy and was stationed in Australia and the Philippines. At war's end he came home and married Dorothy G. Mahin and enjoyed 63 years of marriage.
Kenneth worked for and retired from Farmland Industries. After his retirement he became active in the insurance business which became his passion. After over 15 years, at the age of 86 he sold his insurance agency. He was active in Johnson County Mental Health and the Lions Club. He was also an active member in both the Countryside Christian and Hillcrest Christian churches.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Stewart and daughter Claudia G. Stewart.
Kenneth is survived by his sister Laverne Cottle, Omaha, NE, his son James Stewart and wife Sheri of Overland Park, KS, grandchildren; Amy Tollefson and Husband Troy, Leavenworth, KS, Shannon Wilson and husband Josh, Benicia, CA, great grandchildren Katelyn Tollefson and James Wilson, and numerous nieces and nephews in Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Friday, November 22, 2013 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm Thursday, November 21, 2013 also at the Johnson County Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
