Kenneth Walker

Kenneth Walker, 69, of Overland Park, Kansas, died suddenly last week.

Kenneth grew up in the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Kansas City. He graduated from Wyandotte High School, where he was active on the Track Team. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Business. He was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity where he made many lifelong friends.

He married his wife Sally in 1973, and they were blessed with two sons, Michael and Paul. He was very supportive of his children’s interests, which included music and sports, as well as scouting. He was a scout leader with Boy Scout troop 185, where he was a mentor to many young adults. For years, he enjoyed sailing his 14 ft holder sail boat, which he christened “Therapy.” Later, he enjoyed selling his sailboat.

Kenneth’s quick-witted humor entertained his friends and family, and also served him well in his career. He worked in sales for consumer products until his retirement.

In his retirement he was able to spend more time with his beloved wife Sally. Whether it was going to a show, cooking a meal, or just spending time talking and laughing, they truly loved their time together. Ken loved family gatherings and spending time with his two grandsons, Owen and Beau. He loved to support his grandson’s sports teams.

Kenneth's compassion for others was boundless, and his love was felt by all who knew him.

Services will be held this Friday, April 20th, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS, with visitation beginning at 3 pm and memorial services at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kenneth’s name to Harvesters of Kansas City (https://my.harvesters.org/) or The Rescue Project (P.O. Box 25844 Overland Park, KS, http://therescueproject.net/donate) where he had recently adopted his loyal dog, Biscuit, who accompanied him on his daily walks.
