Kent Eugene Press, 55, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Tuesday November 3rd, 2015. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am Friday November 6th at Valley View United Methodist Church, 8412 W. 95th Street, Overland Park. A visitation will follow the service at church in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Kent may be given to the Puppy Jake Foundation, PO Box 12115, Des Moines, IA 50312. Kent was born in Salina, Kansas and grew up in Overland Park. He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1978 and from the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Kent has been in the insurance business since 1985 and owned Press Insurance Services in Overland Park for the past 17 years. Kent volunteered at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead and enjoyed spending time at Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. He was an avid KC Royals and KU Jayhawk fan where he spent many hours going to games. He loved listening to and traveling around the country to follow the Rolling Stones. Kent enjoyed gardening and especially his palm trees. Kent was preceded in death by his father, Norman Press. He is survived by his wife, Julie; two sons: Andrew Press and his fiancée, Amanda Glenn, and Alex Press; his mother, Norma Press-Block and her husband, Tom; sister, Brenda Harden and her husband Kevin; brother, Curtis Press and his wife, Petra; four nieces and nephews: Andrea Harden-Shadrach and her husband Clark, Isabella Press, Paloma Press and Ethan Harden; and all of Julie’s extended family which he considered his own.
