Kent Lockwood Schneider, born June 30, 1941, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021 at the age of 80. The son of William H. & Lottie P. Schneider, he was born in Kansas City. Though he lived much of his life in the Overland Park area, he explored the world in his many travels and military service. He graduated from Stanford University in 1963 and enlisted in the US Air Force as a fighter pilot flying F4’s for the Red River Valley squadron, completing 3 full tours in Vietnam. After serving his country, he returned to Kansas City in 1970 to run his father’s food brokerage business, W.H. Schneider Co.
Kent was an avid golfer, gin player and lover of all things sports, fast cars, fast boats, flying & beautiful women. He was particularly fond of touring and watching his son compete in golf tournaments and his grandsons playing football & baseball. He was the “King” of pools and was often known to have an “over or under & points” on every sporting event happening. He was always the life of the party and enjoyed a full social life. He will be missed by many dear friends and compadres from several local establishments he frequented and supported, especially his favorite, Bogey’s Windy City Pub.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife, Brock, in 2015. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Krista & Doug Klees, his son and daughter-in-law, Kirk & Rhonda Schneider, his grandsons, Kade & Karson Schneider, Brock’s daughter, Robyn, her husband, Charles & their son Bodie Arthur, his brother-in-law and his wife, Mike & Sylvia Taylor and cousins, King, Kenton & Kyle Kirchner.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 14th at 4:00 PM at Bogey’s Windy City Pub.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association :
