L. Frank Buchan of Prairie Village peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 18 with his family holding his hands.

Frank lived life to the fullest for 88 years having spent 65 of those years with the love of his life, Charlotte. Born December 28, 1919 in Kansas City, Kansas his parents were Paul and Helen Buchan. He graduated from Wyandotte High School and worked several years with his father in the restaurant business. During WWII he enlisted in the Navy and served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. After the War Frank worked at the Machinery and Supplies Company as office manager and credit manager until his retirement in 1982. Frank and Char and had a passion for Square and Round Dancing and he served as president of local, regional and state dance associations. He was a Mason being a charter member of the Old Mission Masonic Lodge 153. He held the post of Worthy Patron in the Order of Easter Star where Char was Chapter Matron. Named Sertoman of the year in 1999 and 2006 Frank was a frontline volunteer for the Johnson County Sertoma Club taking a major role in "Showtime: The Bill of Rights", which enjoyed 15 successful seasons in local schools.

Frank's extended family includes the staff at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was honored in 2006 with the First Humanitarian Award for his countless hours of volunteer work in the Surgery Waiting Room. He recently accumulated over 6,500 hours at the desk in the waiting room. Frank was a member of The Colonial Church of Prairie Village.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Char in 2006. Surviving Frank are his son, Leonard and wife Susie of Phoenix, Arizona, grandsons Kent of Phoenix, and Kelly of Placentia, California, sister in law and family, Sandra and Jim Vader, their children, Jane, Jim and Joan of Mission Hills, sister in law and family, Luann and Gordon Cramer, their children Brad, Clay, Sue and Kim of Manhattan.

Friends are invited to join at the D.W. Newcomer Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park from 6-8 P.M. on Friday, March 21st for Visitation. Graveside service will take place Saturday, March 22nd at 10:00 A.M. at the same location. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Frank's honor to the Johnson County Sertoma Club in care of Esther Conrad, Treasurer, 6120 West 69th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66204.
