LaRaine Maxine Fox, age 86, of Overland Park Kansas peacefully entered her eternal reward at 3:15 PM, December 20, 2011.
She was born January 20, 1925 in the mining town of Galena, KS to Jabe and Lena Murray. She led a simple life with her parents, brother Kenneth and friends until a boy, Leon Fox, spied her standing atop her parents' car on his way to school one day.
What began as simple attraction blossomed into a love that would last through high school, a world war, and over sixty-eight years of marriage.
Professionally, she served for ten years as Art Director for Leland Mast Publications. As more children and grandchildren came into her life she exchanged professional success for the opportunity to pour her creativity and values into them.
She was a Godly woman who loved to paint, garden and cook… and did those things exceedingly well. The thing she did best, however, was love people. Her family and friends colored her world: a simple, elegant masterpiece. In return, they reaped countless rewards as beneficiaries of a person who consistently considered their needs above her own.
She is survived by her husband of sixty eight years, Leon Fox; her children: Linda Skinner and husband John, Loretta Fox-Yates and husband Andrew, Quentin Fox and wife Kristin, Matthew Fox and wife Patty and their families… four children, fifteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren in all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jabe and Lena Murray; brother Kenneth; and infant great-granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Hart.
Services will be held at DW Newcomers Memorial Chapel on 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS with gravesite services immediately following.
Loved by those she touched, she will be missed… but only for a while. Heaven isn't too far away.
