Larry D. Douglas, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2017 at Shawnee Mission Health Center. Visitation will be on July 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. The family suggests casual attire.
Larry was born on January 28, 1938 in Independence, Missouri to Albert Matthew and Anna Belle Douglas. Larry was married to Judy Douglas on July 30, 1983. Larry was employed by Dearborn Midwest Conveyor for many years as a Design Engineer, designing and supervising the construction of conveyor belts. He retired in 1981 to play a little more golf – his favorite hobby. Larry loved to be outdoors (weather permitting). He loved the Chiefs and NASCAR. He is survived by his wife Judy, three children, Ron, California, Greg, New Mexico and Amy, Indiana, two step-daughters, Kim Pasley (Randy), and Jennifer Cooper, now of Lenexa and his very important dog, Mona who gets to live with her Mama until she can join her “Daddy”. He loved all of them dearly. He also leaves behind Grandchildren, Katie, Hannah and Ryan Pasley and Aaron Paler Douglas.
"May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand."
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas 66104
