Larry J. Eubanks died peacefully October 31, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House. Larry was born on November 30, 1943, in Paragould, Arkansas the fourth child of J. T. and Jewell (Sharp) Eubanks. Larry was predeceased by his mother, father and sister, Bonnie Burgess. A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Saturday, November 10th at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Ks. Visitation will be at 3 o'clock and the memorial service will be at 4 o'clock.
Larry is survived by his spouse, Sandra and his son Sean (Charlene) of Alliance, Nebraska. He is also survived by his grandson, Tyson (Jessica) Eubanks currently serving in Afghanistan, granddaughter Krysti (Matthew) Cullinan currently stationed in Hawaii; sisters Judy (Hector) Vazquez of Greenwood, Mo., Duretta (Augustine) Sanchez of Gallup, N.M. and brother, John Eubanks of Crestview, Fl; his sister-in-law, Judith Brown of Overland Park, and brother-in-law Robert (Janice) Brown of Olathe and many loving nieces and nephews.
Larry served as Corpsmen with the U.S. Navy stationed at Great Lakes during the Vietnam War. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a double major in business administration and science. He loved sports and continued to play softball until in his 60's when he "retired" from the game because it took longer to put on all his braces than it took to play the game. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved children and they loved him back. Larry was the Director of Pulmonary Medicine at Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha as well as Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park, Ks. Larry ended his career in medicine working with Pulmonary Medical Associates in North K.C. educating and evaluating patients with sleep apnea and other pulmonary conditions.
Larry had a giant heart and will always be remembered by his family, friends, church family at New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as a deacon, and patients for his love and compassion. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Lewy Body/Alzheimer's Association or Renewed Hope Food Pantry, New Haven Church, 8714 Antioch Road, Overland Park, KS.
