Lawrence (Larry) Howard Goldman, 81, of Overland Park, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2016, after an eight-month struggle with dementia, complicated by melanoma.
Larry was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 8, 1934 and also lived in East St. Louis, IL, and Sedalia, MO, a town he truly loved. He graduated from the University of Missouri/Columbia in 1956 and was then drafted into the Army, where he spent time in Korea following the war. He moved to the Kansas City area in the 1960’s to attend pharmacy school at the University of Missouri/KC. He graduated in 1964 and worked for several drug stores, including Parkview, Revco, Osco, ECO, and DeGoler’s where he retired in 2012.
Larry was predeceased by his father, Bert, and mother, Eleanor Goldman Kahn, as well as by his sister, Marilyn Goldman Haas. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary and his daughter, Martha Goldman (and Ian Coday), of Carthage, MO; his brother-in-law, Lawrence Haas (and Diana), of Tucson; his brother-in-law, Roy Zeier (and Debe), of Defiance, MO; his niece, Brenda Haas (and Rich Albert), of Briarcliff Manor, NY; his niece, Carla Haas (and Rick Barnum), of Alamo, CA; his nephew, Brad Haas (and Jill), of Pacific Palisades, CA; his niece, Liz Wright, of Fredericksburg, VA; his niece, Chrystie Coutinho (and David), of South Orange, NJ; his nephew, Bill Zeier, of Colorado; his niece, Andrea Zeier, of Defiance, MO; and eleven grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 24th, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Burial will be Rosehill Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or the Alzheimer’s Association www.curealz.org
