Mr. Larry Raney

Larry P Raney, 68, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at St. Joseph Medical Center.
He was born August 25, 1942, in Erie, Kansas, to Morris (Dutch) and Ruth Raney. He graduated from Erie High School, received a Bachelor of Science in Business Degree from The University of Kansas and was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Larry loved his family, enjoyed watching sports (played football in his youth) and was dedicated to his profession. He was in public accounting for 14 years and then moved to the private sector. In the nineties one of those firms sent him to work in England for a year. The last 14 years he worked for Intelligent Marketing Solutions, Inc. in Grandview, Missouri.
He and his wife, Patricia (Patty) married on September 1, 1963, in Lawrence, Kansas. Survivors in addition to his wife include: a son, Larry Curtis Raney and his wife, Alisa; a daughter, Pamela Rose Buford; five grandchildren, Amanda Raney, Shelby Buford, Leah Buford, Alexander Raney and Danielle Buford; two sisters and their spouses, Nancy Opela and her husband Dick, Linda Weidert and her husband Larry; two brothers and their spouses, Rick Raney and his wife Bev and Randy Raney and his wife Natalie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Morris and Ruth Raney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011, at Valley View United Methodist Church, 8412 West 95th Street in Overland Park, Kansas 66212. There will be a family gathering at 9:30 a.m. and a visitation for friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the same day, February 7th, at the church. Interment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
