Larry Ralph Rieke, 77, died peacefully on February 1, 2022 at Menorah Hospital in Overland Park, following a fatal stroke. Larry was a resident of Overland Park, where he resided for many years. Funeral services will be held beginning at 10 am on Saturday, February 19th at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens in Overland Park. The memorial service will be followed by internment, fellowship and refreshments at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Andrew Christian Church, 13890 W. 127th St, Olathe, Kansas 66062, in Larry’s memory.
Born December 11, 1944 in Kansas City, MO, Larry was the second son of Gerald and Virginia Rieke of Shawnee, Kansas where he was raised. Besides his parents who pre-deceased him, his older brother, Ron Rieke, passed away last Fall in Florida. Larry’s nieces, Sherri and their husbands and families live in other states. Larry is part of a large extended family in and around Shawnee who mourn his passing.
Larry graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and attended Pittsburg State University. Professionally Larry had two successful careers, one in residential real estate sales and the other in travel planning. Because of his courteousness and attention to detail he had a loyal following of customers over several decades of service.
Larry leaves behind a cherished life partner of thirty years, Carroll Leffler, of Warrensburg, MO, with whom he shared much happy life, traveling the world together.
