Larry Roland Waugaman went to meet the Lord on May 3, 2010. He suffered with lung cancer, passing away peacefully into the arms of Jesus. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, at the chapel prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City or the American Cancer Society . Larry was born on June 18, 1938, in Carlisle, Pa., to George W. Waugaman and Cora Fanus Waugaman. He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1956. Larry served in the Navy from June of 1956 to June of 1959. His hobby was model trains. Larry worked for Pitney- Bowes for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Louise Waugaman Goodhart. Survivors include his wife, Sonja; son, Eric Waugaman; stepsons, Michael Ritchey and Daniel Ritchey; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, George W. Waugaman, Carlisle, Pa.; sister, Barbara W. Horn, Beavercreek, Ohio; five nephews and 10 nieces. The family wishes to thank the Cohen Esrey Real Estate Company where Larry was employed for their many kindnesses and concern they had for Larry and his family.
