Larry Weidman

August 2, 1950 — December 25, 2018

Larry Grant Weidman, 68, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on December 25, 2018 at his home. He was born on August 2nd, 1950 to Hubert and Jeanette (Youngling) Weidman in Joplin, MO.

He grew up with his Mother and beloved grandparents Loyd Jones & Ruthie, his Grandfather was Mayor of Leawood, Kansas at that time.  Larry went to Shawnee Mission East and upon graduation he attended Kansas State University pursuing his engineering degree.

He then transferred to Embry Riddle in Florida and during that time he became involved in his great passion of racing cars. He used to say it was hard to concentrate on studies due to the engine sounds at Daytona Beach. Due to an automobile accident he returned to Leawood to continue his career and joined local firm where he brought new technology and surpassed all records for stud welding.  He then moved to New York firm doing extensive R&D in California continuing his pursuit of innovative ideas.

He moved family to Florida where he started a family business. He developed thermoplastic process for boats and ships and worked with U.S. Force and major companies developing coatings.

After 20 yrs he returned to the Overland Park area and entered into joint venture and created Co with numerous patents U.S. and foreign. Additionally he obtained U.S. EPA Registration.

Larry has done so much in his life but his joy was is family and his grandchildren.  He has two surviving sisters, Jama Russano, Cindy Derosa, a brother Michael Youngling, brother Alex, Jim and sister Lea.  He is also survived by his wife Betty of 36 years, his three sons, Grant Weidman, Spencer Weidman and Wes Weidman. & a daughter Heather; his amazing grandchildren, Emma Weidman, Jordan and Harper White, Alex White, Carson & Vance Weidman and Payton, Hailey Weidman and Maverick Weidman.

A life well lived but gone too soon.  Peace to you Larry.
