Brian Larson Bohon, 52, of Westminster, CO, formerly of Leawood, KS, passed peacefully on December 30, 2009, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. Memorial services will start at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145, and to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66206.
Brian was born to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bohon on July 20, 1957, in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1975 and attended DeVry Institute of Technology, graduating in 1989 with honors.
Brian was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karma Kai Horner, on May 19, 1990, and moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where Brian serviced X-ray equipment as a Field Engineer with Advanced Diagnostics Inc. Brian and Karma then purchased 5 acres in Wasilla, Alaska, where Brian began to build a timber frame cabin which was their home for the next 10 years. Brian changed careers in 1993 and began working on packaging and strapping equipment for ITW Signode Service Business, Inc. After enjoying the "last frontier days" in AK, Brian and Karma relocated to Westminster, CO, in 2000, where Brian continued his career with Signode as a Senior Service Engineer.
No task was too big for Brian to tackle and to succeed. This was evident when Brian and a friend rode 100 miles on their bicycles to Brian's grandmother's house when he was 14 years old. His proudest accomplishment was when he built the house in Alaska that was home for 10 years. Also, Brian enjoyed his work. He took pride in helping his customers and thrived on the challenges his job presented.
Brian is survived by his wife Karma, mother Rebecca L. Bohon, sister Barbara D. Bohon, sister Beth E. Dixon and husband Gary, nephew Eli Dixon and wife Jada, niece Kate Dixon and son Aiden, aunts Virginia Larson and Rosemary Alsbury, and many extended family members and friends.
Special thanks to all those who supported the family in prayer and good wishes. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.dwnewcomers.com.
