Vera LaRue Wyatt, 90, passed Away on July 3, 2024. LaRue was born March 2, 1934 in Oakland, Arkansas to Arkie and Floyd Hawkins. LaRue was raised in north-central Arkansas near Mountain Home. She graduated from the University of Arkansas and began a carrier in teaching. She married her husband of 62 years, Don Wyatt on June 18, 1955. After moving to the Kansas City area and starting a family of her own she went on to earn a Masters of Education and took a position teaching business at Shawnee Mission South High School. She was very active at the school, sponsoring the Pep Club and sewing uniforms for the drill team and flag team. She was always the rock of her family, tirelessly caring for and supporting anyone in need. She was an avid gardener, an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader and always loved her daily 2 mile walk. To her family she was the very embodiment of the title “Mom”. Always caring, always nurturing, always comforting, always generous. Her later years were difficult as her memory failed, but she was always strong and never gave up. She is survived by her son Ken Wyatt, her daughter Lynda LeAnn Timmons, her grandson Ryan Mathew Timmons and her brother Dwain Hawkins.
