Laura “Mae” Williams Ibenthal passed away peacefully, to be with our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, August 17 at the age of 95, in Overland Park, KS.
Mae was born August 31, 1915, the twin daughter of Roy and Laura Reynolds Rutledge, in a small rural area near Wauneta, Kansas.
Mae graduated from Elgin High School in 1933 and married Charles Kenneth ‘CK’ Williams, "The Love of her Life”, that same year, and of that union she became the proud mother of two girls; Gloria and Carolyn.
Widowed at age, 39 Mae moved to Kansas City in 1956 and became one of the first female Real Estate Agents in, a then little known suburb, OP, KS. She retired in 1978 and moved to Mission, Texas, where she lived for 30 years.
She is survived by daughters Gloria Beuoy and Carolyn Kopp (Skip), grandchildren Leisa Mae Davin (Mike), Cecilia Cooper (Doug) of Overland Park, and Scott and Chris Kopp of Kansas City, Missouri and Kelly Kopp Pasquan of Scottsdale, AZ and great grandchildren Shannon Mae and Chalice Cooper of Overland Park and Stephen and Hunter Kenneth Pasquan of Scottsdale. She is also survived by her only sister Beth Harned of Oklahoma City and many nieces and nephews.
She had 4 brothers who preceded her in death, George, Frank, her twin brother Ray, and Newt.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 22 at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS. Services to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Church reception following services. She will be laid to rest 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23 in the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, KS.
The family is blessed by many fond memories of a wonderful woman, who lived a long life,
overcame adversity, loved family, music, and travel.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the American Heart Association.
