Laura Newby

Laura Lee Dias Newby, 67, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on July 10, 2018, at home.

Laura was born February 19, 1951 in Maumee, OH. She was born in Ohio but grew up in Pasadena, CA. She was an excellent student and graduated Pasadena High School early, in 1969. She worked many years in banking and took years off to work as a stay-at-home mother. Laura volunteered on PTA committees and was known to be the team mom and taxi for many of her children's band, orchestra and sport obligations. Laura and children relocated to Overland Park, KS in 1993, where she continued working in the mortgage industry. Laura’s favorite pastime was spending time with her three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald A. Dias; her mother, Gertrude E. (Williams) Dias; and her brother, Ronald L. Dias.

Laura is survived by her children, Chaurice Jacobson (Christa), Collene Hammock (Ben), and John Newby; 3 grandchildren, Jordan and Juliana Jacobson, and Truman Hammock; as well as countless friends and family members.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, service at 11 AM, on Tuesday, July 17, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.
