Mrs. Laura Toomay

Laura Mae Toomay, age 85, of De Soto, KS, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014. A visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon Tuesday, June 17, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Laura was born on July 8, 1928 in Pomona, Missouri. She was married to Howard M. Toomay on May 31, 1946 and was a homemaker who raised her 5 children.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Addie Mae McFarland, sister, Dorothy Lewis and brothers, Robert and Bill McFarland. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Howard M. Toomay, children; Ron Toomay (Debbie) of Shawnee, KS, Richard Toomay (Beverly) of Gravois Mills, MO, Cheryl Hatch (John) of Shawnee, KS, Bob Toomay (Lori) of Shawnee, KS and Karen Madden (Terry) of Lenexa, KS. Laura is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and brother, Joe McFarland of Kansas City, MO.
