Lavern Edward Mausolf,89, passed away Monday, Sept 9, 2013, at the Sweet Life, Overland Park.
He was born Jan 23, 1924, in Pawnee Rock, KS. The first of 3 children to Edward & Bertha Lebsack Mausolf. He graduated from Otis High school, having participated in sports & the band. During WWII Lavern served with the US Navy as a Yeoman on the U.S.S. Houston. After his discharge, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Business. He played basketball coached by the legendary Phog Allen and was a lifelong Jayhawk fan! He married Pauline Folkerts from Otis & 4 daughters were born to them. He was a Lutheran Brotherhood insurance agent until his retirement. He was a Certified Life Underwriter & lifetime member of the Million Dollar Roundtable . Lavern was active in the Overland Park Host Lions Club, VFW Post 7397 & American Legion Post 370 . He married Karen Lewis & raised 3 stepsons.
Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, both Pauline & Karen, a daughter Connie & a brother Kenny.
Survivors are his daughters and their families: Bonnie & Dave Noltensmeyer ( John & Mrs. Amy Creek ), Lana & Rod Bauer (Mrs. Kimberly Taylor, Todd Bauer, & Mrs. Tara DiPaolo), and Debra & Steve Beachler ( Michael, Brian, & Heather) and stepsons and families: Brian, Brent and Gayle & Brad and Heather Lewis, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, & a sister Mrs. Ina Mae Schlegel.
A memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 16, 2013, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Overland Park, KS. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
