Lawrence (Larry) E. Schnackenberg, age 95, of Lenexa, KS., died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at Brookdale Hospice, surrounded by his son, daughter in law, and grandson.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS.

Larry was born in 1924 to Carl and Alma Schnackenberg of Pittsburg, KS.  He attended school in Pittsburg, KS., enjoying life on the family farm and working at the family Schnackenberg Dairy.  He married Lorna Mundt at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsburg, KS. on Christmas Day, 1948.  They moved to Kansas City in 1950.  Larry worked for the Thomas Fruit Company and later General Electric Company until he retired.  He also worked for the Johnson County Funeral Chapel.  He was a Councilman in Mission, KS. for 20 years.

Larry and Lorna had one son, Larry, Jr.  Lorna passed away in 1984.  Lawrence married Flora Lee Mayes in 1986.  They lived in Lee's Summit, MO. until her death in 2012.

As his health declined, Larry lived in various retirement facilities in Kansas City, and received excellent care and assistance through Interim and Hospice Services.

Larry enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much!  They always brought a smile and much happiness to his life!  He had a sharp mind, a quick wit, and enjoyed watching KU Basketball and the Chiefs!!

Survivors include his son, Larry, Jr. (Judy), and grandchildren Rebecca Donahoo (Doug), Kristen Schepker (D.J.), David (Katie), Michael (Kelly), and Jacob Schnackenberg.  His great grandchildren are Sophie and Mallory Schepker, and also two great grandchildren who are due to arrive in the spring of 2020.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Larry's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Kansas City.  215 West Pershing Road #300, Kansas City, MO. 64108
