Bertha Lee Reynolds, age 89, two time cancer survivor, passed away May 18, 2014 after a long illness. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Nall Ave Church of the Nazarene, 6301 Nall Ave., Mission, Kansas 66202, with visitation beginning at 11 am at the church. Interment will follow in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Bertha was a waitress while her husband Howard fought in WWII. When he returned they opened their own jewelry and watch repair business at Harzfeld's and Bertha sold fine jewelry for Jaccard's and Zales. Her retirement years included working on her farm and then joining her sister in an assisted living facility.
Bertha is preceded in death by her parents, Esquire and Nellie Gambill and by her husband of 64 years, Howard C. Reynolds.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Lee Reynolds of Overland Park, KS; two grandsons, Paul David Jones of Overland Park, KS and Wm. Madison Jones of Arlington, TX; a great grandson, Randol of Arlington, TX; two sisters, Helen Hardin of Independence, MO and Marjorie Frost of Mount City, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
