Mr. Lemuel Sylvester

JR. Lemuel Franklin Sylvester, Jr., was born on November 14, 1929 and passed away on December 16, 2010. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, from 10-11 a.m., at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas 66210. Funeral services will start at 11 a.m., following the visitation. Burial will follow in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. His parents were Lemuel Franklin, Sr., and Mary Eugene Knapp. He married Thetis L. Sylvester in 1949 and they had five children. He has two sisters, Betty (Freelynn) McGee and Mary Lynn Sylvester. He had five sons: Eric (Nancy), Dennis, Danny, Erin, and Tim. He was a Korean War veteran and earned two purple hearts and a bronze star. He retired from Total Petroleum in 1993. Lemuel was preceded in death by his parents; son, Erin; and his wife of fifty seven years, Thetis. He loved his grandchildren: Jacob (Nicole), TJ, Jessica, Sarah (Brian) Williams, Chris, Becky, Rachel (Jon) Rossi, Jennie, Zach, Kelley & Brett; great grandchildren: Rylee, Annabelle, Sophie, & Shay. Lemuel had numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews. He was a fun and entertaining guy and loved his family and friends. He will be missed by us all.
