Leo Reinkemeyer

Leo Robert (Bob, Rink) Reinkemeyer, (83), passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Olathe, KS on September 29, 2007. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 22nd, 1924. Bob graduated from Marquette High School in Tulsa, and then entered military service in the United States Navy during WW II as a Naval Aviator. He served in the Pacific Theater aboard CVE 27, USS Suwannee, an escort carrier. He flew the Grumman F6F Hellcat in combat. He later attended the University of Tulsa where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering. On June 4th, 1949, he married the love of his life, Theresa Francis Chandler. Along with raising five children, Robert?s career in Petroleum Refining spanned an unbroken chain of 39 years beginning with Kanotex, then APCO, then Total Petroleum. He retired in July of 1989 as Vice President of Refining for Total Petroleum. Robert and Terry made their home for 30 years in Arkansas City, KS and for 20 years in Aurora, CO. In 2002, they moved to Aberdeen Village in Olathe, KS to enjoy their twilight years near their daughters, Nancy and Ann.

Bob was a brilliant and respected Petroleum Engineer with a contagious smile, sparkling blue eyes and an unbreakable can-do attitude. He was a strong and loving person whose generous spirit brought him great satisfaction in serving his Lord, his family and his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Councils 2614 - Arkansas City, KS, 10861? Spring, TX and finally 1913 ? Olathe, KS. He was an avid freshwater fisherman, card player, gardener, cook, and a true jack-of-all-trades. He was active in service to his Savior at Christ the King Parish of Tulsa, OK, Sacred Heart Parish of Arkansas City, KS, Queen of Peace Parish in Aurora, CO and St. Paul Parish in Olathe, KS.

He is survived by his five children, David (Diane) of Houston, TX, Nancy (Curt) Diebel of Overland Park, KS, Jim (Jeanie) of Tulsa, OK, Ann Stites of Lawrence, KS and Phil (Jeanne) of Dallas, TX, his sister Margaret McKenzie of Edmond, OK and his sister Dorothy Egan of Tulsa, OK. He was a proud grandparent of 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa, his parents, Leo and Agnes Reinkemeyer, his brother Eugene and a sister Betty.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, October 1st at Aberdeen Village, 17500 W. 119th St., Olathe, KS. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 2nd beginning at 4:00 pm with the Vigil Service & Rosary at 7:00 pm, at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1402 S. Boulder, Tulsa, OK. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 16th & South Quincy in Tulsa, OK at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 3rd. The Rite of Committal will take place at graveside, Calvary Cemetery, immediately following the Mass.
