Leona M. Hubbard, 89, Overland Park, passed away January 19, 2011. A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2011, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Leona was born January 15, 1922, in Kansas City, Kansas, the only child of Leo and Iona Kellogg. She grew up in Kansas City and then moved to Texas and Southern California. She was married to Daniel Hubbard on July 14, 1962. She returned to the Kansas City area in 1974. Leona loved to learn and read, because of this she became very knowledgeable about Kansas City history, and also enjoyed reading poetry. She was also a woman of strong Catholic faith. Everyone that knew Leona thought she was a very sweet and comforting woman and was a joy to be around. She also had a wonderful sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Daniel.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Sibbring of Alamo, CA, Donna (Larry) Spengler of Rodeo, CA, and Danielle (Scott) Galligani of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Laurie Clark, Don Spengler, Mike David, Soreya Evans, Samantha Galligani, and Victoria Galligani; and several great grandchildren.
