LEONARD Z. (“BEE”) BOUDREAUX, JR.

Leonard Z. (“Bee”) Boudreaux, Jr., 97, a native and lifelong resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana.

Bee died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday evening at Garden Terrace Nursing Center in Overland Park, Kansas. He enjoyed a long and fulfilled life and the love of family and friends.

He graduated from Thibodaux College in 1931 and spent his working life as proprietor of Boudreaux’s Grocery in Thibodaux, La. He was a master craftsman and as a young man distinguished himself as a national finalist in the General Motors Fisher Body Craftsman Guild Contest. He was an enthusiastic genealogist and in retirement became an active participant at the Thibodaux, La. Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Zachary Boudreaux Sr. and Agnes Ledet Boudreaux; his aunt Leonide “Nan” Boudreaux; his first wife, Marguerite Cecile Blanchard Boudreaux; his second wife Gertrude “Trudy” Ganel Boudreaux; and by his grandson John Zachary Boudreaux.

He is survived by his sons, Michael and wife Kay of Overland Park, KS; John and wife Maria Estela of Overland Park, KS; Daniel and wife Julie of Diamondhead, MS; Grandsons Don Boudreaux and wife Katherine of Katy, TX; David Boudreaux and wife Jennifer of Olathe, KS; Granddaughters Nicole Crutchfield and husband David of Fargo, ND; and Michel Coverdale and husband Brent of Shawnee, KS; Great-grandchildren Zachary Boudreaux, Cal Boudreaux, Chloe Boudreaux, Duncan Boudreaux, Julia Coverdale and Luke Coverdale.

Funeral services will be on Friday, November 26, 2010, at 5:00 p.m., at the Church of the Ascension in Overland Park, KS. Burial and graveside services will be at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Thibodaux, La, at a future date and time. DW Newcomer’s Sons of Overland Park, KS is handling arrangements.
