Leonard S. Nicoski, 81, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away March 27, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. A visitation will begin an hour prior to the service, also in the chapel. Cremation will follow the service and a family graveside will be held at a later date in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Leonard was born April 17, 1929, in Gilman,Wisconsin to Victor and Mary Nicoski. He was married to Virginia Nicoski for 56 years and worked for the department of Health and Human Services for the federal government for over 30 years. Leonard continuously improved himself by taking many different college classes, was an avid reader and self taught harmonica player. He loved photography, theatre, and listening to a variety of music. He especially enjoyed all of the time that he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Matt Nicoski; and one sister, Emily Jaskot.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Nicoski; children, Dan Nicoski, Mark Nicoski, Vedder McCaustland, Aaron Nicoski, Venetta (Sis) Crawford, and Mike Nicoski; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
