Leslie “Les” E. Regier, 75, passed away Saturday February 10, 2018 from Metastatic Melanoma. Les was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on June 1, 1942 to Edward and Wilma Regier.
Les grew up in Buhler, Kansas and graduated from Buhler High School. He attended Hutchinson Community College and graduated from Kansas State University in 1965 with a degree in Business. He was an American United Life Insurance Agent in Topeka, Kansas from 1966 to 1974. His family then moved to Dodge City, Kansas in 1974 to manage the family farm near Cimarron, Kansas. In 1986 he accepted a position as a District Administrator for the Kansas Farm Bureau making their home in Overland Park until he retired in 2013.
Les easily built relationships with all who he came into contact with. He was especially known for his terrific sense of humor. He loved sports, especially football and was an avid K- State Fan. But his passion was in raising funds for cancer research. He and his family were hosts for the annual Rob Regier Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit Johnson Cancer Research Center at Kansas State University.
He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas.
Les was preceded in death by his son, Rob and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra “Sandy” Regier; son, Randy and (Juli) Regier; grandsons: Stan(Libby) Crawford, Andrew (Megan) Crawford; granddaughter, Ryann Regier; great-grandchildren: Beau Crawford and Charlotte Crawford; sister: Wanda (Larry) Gleue; step-sisters: Lola (Milford) Lohrentz, and Ruth(Gerald) Roulet; and five nieces and four nephews.
Visitation will be 4-6pm Friday February 16, 2018 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave. Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday February 17th in the Wesley Chapel at the Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Johnson Cancer Research Center, 1 Chalmers Hall, 1711 Claflin Road, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66505-3901 in memory of Les Regier in the memo. Les will be remembered for his love for his family, his kindness and his smile.
