Lida was born and grew up on a farm outside Camden Point, MO. Her family consisted of one brother, Charles (deceased), two sisters Juanita (deceased) and Martha, mother ELNORA (deceased), and father, Dennie (deceased). During the school year, she rode a pony to school through the eighth grade. After graduation from high school, she moved to Kansas City, MO, and attended a business school with bookkeeping as a specialty. She had several different business jobs including working at Hallmark.
When WWII started, her husband, Marvin, joined the Navy. After basic training, she joined him at a Naval base in Farragut, Idaho, and worked in the business office there.
After her oldest daughter, Deborah was born, Lida became a housewife, as was the custom in the 1950s. She has two daughters, Deborah Ralls and Mary Jane Goodell. She also has a granddaughter, Megan Beard, and has enjoyed many fun times with her granddaughter as she grew up.
Lida has always had an interest in card-playing and became very interested in bridge. She was in the Leawood Women's Bridge Club and also played bridge later during her earlier retired life.
She had two very enjoyable trips after her husband retired. One of her most enjoyable trips was visiting the country of Turkey. Her husband, Marvin was asked by an organization to go to Istanbul and advise a company as a retired carpet industry mentor. They spent a month there and had many interesting times. She also enjoyed a trip to Europe with her husband for their 50th wedding anniversary. They had a lot of fun visiting England, France, and Germany.
