Mrs. Lilla (Ricketts) Brand

Lilla Waneta (Ricketts) Brand passed away at home on April 6, 2013. She was born on May 15, 1924 near Altoona in Bates County, MO. She attended high school in Adrian, MO and she moved to K.C. in 1943. She worked at Pratt and Whitney assembling aircraft engines until WWII was over. She married Carl Lenus Brand on September 6, 1946 in Santa Fe, NM. She retired from Shawnee Mission Medical Center after 16 years in food services.
Survivors: Daughter, Judy (Tim) Martin, Coppell, Texas, sons, Larry (Debra) Brand, Lenexa, KS, and Jeff Brand, K.C., KS, stepdaughter Patty (Jerry) Witschner, Gladstone, MO, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Russell Rickets, K.C., MO, and sister Louise Lawson, Carmichael, CA.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7 pm on Wednesday, April 10, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am with visitation beginning at 9 am on Thursday, April 11, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208. Burial to follow at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
