Lindy Lee Darby, known to her loved ones as Lindy, peacefully passed away on November 9, 2023, at the age of 70 in Olathe, Kansas. Lindy was born on July 24, 1953, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Louise and Donal Shipman. Lindy was a life-long resident of Olathe, KS and graduated from Olathe High School.
In September of 1983 Lindy married Jeffrey K Darby.
Lindy was a bright and happy person who loved to craft and spend time with her family. She had a talent for sewing and quilting, and her creations were admired by all who saw them. Lindy's creativity and passion for crafting brought joy to her life and those around her.
In her professional life, Lindy served as an executive secretary at King Radio from 1971 until 1985. Later she was a school secretary for the Olathe School District. She was known for her dedication and efficiency in her work, and her colleagues appreciated her attention to detail.
Lindy will be deeply missed by her husband, Jeff Darby, her daughter, Amanda Williams, her sons, Jason Darby and Shawn Darby, and her granddaughter, Alyxx Zinn. She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Shipman, her father, Donal Shipman, and her sister, Donna Mitchell.
Lindy was a member of Olathe First Presbyterian Church, where she found peace and solace. Her faith was an important part of her life and provided her with comfort and guidance.
A private ceremony will be held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, where Lindy will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Autism Speaks, two organizations that were close to Lindy's heart.
The Johnson County Memorial Gardens is assisting the family with the arrangements during this difficult time.
Lindy will be remembered for her bright spirit, her love for her family, and her dedication to her crafting. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and creativity that will be cherished by all who knew her.
