LINWOOD “LIN” A. McCOOL
Linwood “Lin” A. McCool, 79, died Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 in Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Saturday, January 8th at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Ks. Lin was employed by National Fire Sprinkler until 1981. September 14, 1981, Lin formed his own company as Century Fire Sprinklers, Inc., where he retired in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dave & Jack. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, brother Thomas of St. Louis, MO. and many of his family of Century Fire Sprinklers, Inc.
Lin was an innovator of the fire sprinkler industry. He developed the “Water” hydraulic calculation program for the industry. He was a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). He was truly a legend in the fire sprinkler business and will be truly missed by all.
He was one of the most generous men to work for and took pride in his employees and treated everyone as family.
One known fact is that he truly loved his wife, Lynn. Every time he spoke to her on the phone, his last words were “OK sweetheart, I love you”.
