Lisa Ann Sawyer, 54, beloved wife, mother, sister, artist, poet, mentor, musician and an inspiration to friends and admirers passed away April 28, 2017 with her family by her side at The Kansas City Hospice House.
She was born on April 17, 1963 in Kansas City, Kansas (Wyandotte County) to Leroy and Barbara Ann Page-Stocks. Lisa married Carl Ray Barrymore on Dec 23, 1986 in Kansas. She married James Sawyer on Oct 22, 2011 in Olathe, Kansas.
Her interests included family, singing and playing guitar, drawing, painting, poetry, teaching, and many more. Lisa was a beautiful person inside and out. As a mom, grandmother, sister and a friend to all, she inspired many with her exuberant love of life and heartfelt laughter. She voluntarily taught music for the underprivileged and served at a food pantry weekly. Her infectious personality made everyone smile.
She is survived by her daughter: Heather Barrymore (Chris Shellenberger) of Joplin, Missouri; granddaughter: Skylee Jo Shellenberger; ex-husband: Carl Barrymore; mother: Barbara Daly; sisters: Leanne Baraban (Steve), Christine Oldham, Laura Hackworth (Bill) and Leslie Wilson (Jim); step-sister: Janice Branson (Gary); step children: Rachelle Moore and Dustin Sawyer; Honorary family: Cassandra Ryan and daughter Addalyn; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sawyer.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Aaron Schumann officiating.
