Liz "Lily" Thomas

Elizabeth (Zachariah) Thomas, 80, Lenexa, KS, passed away on May 19, 2017 at her residence.
Elizabeth was born February 25, 1937 in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia to Thanghaman and Mayadom Zachariah.
Liz was a caring mother, grandmother, and devoted Christian. Her children and grandchildren were her life and joy. She had a passion for shopping, not for herself, but her children and grandchildren. Coming from Malaysia in 1978 was not an easy transition for her. A new culture and way of life was more difficult for her to adapt to. To support our family, she took various jobs. She lived in Malaysia with more privileges than she had here, and this was no easy task. She had no choice here. We were not rich by any means when we came here. What we lacked in money, we gained in love. She had her own way to express her love, and that was through gifts. She was proud of all her children and grandchildren. All of us have grown up to be successful in our own right. We are who we are, and have achieved what we have because of our mother and father’s sacrifices. She may be gone physically, but her spirit lives in all of us.
She was preceded in death by both parents and two of her sisters, Anne John and Rachel George.
Liz is survived by her siblings, Rajan, Molly, Lucy, George, and Mathew; her children, Susan
(Stephen) Slaughter, Tom (Ha) Thomas, Zach (Susan) Thomas, and Alex Thomas; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
