Lloyd Weller

November 27, 1921 — June 6, 2011

Lloyd W. Weller, age 89, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011. He was born on November 27, 1921 in KC, KS the son of Maude B. (Wahlenmeier) and Lloyd C. Weller.

Lloyd obtained 2 Masters Degrees in engineering, enjoyed philanthropy, tennis, was an avid sports fan and Kansas State University was his favorite Alma Mater. He served in the United States Army from September 1945 through January 1946, having served in WWII and was stationed in Italy. Lloyd was a consulting engineer for Black and Veatch Consulting and retired as a partner from the corporation in the 1990’s. After retirement, Lloyd enjoyed sailing and became certified as a coast guard captain, having sailed all over the world in lengthy trips. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 292 in Prairie Village and was a scout master. Lloyd was loved by everyone that knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Weller; sons, Rick Weller, Grant DeMuth and Barry DeMuth; daughter Courtney Fizer and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Eleanor A. Weller in 1978, and one daughter, Gwen Padgett.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will be held in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 West 75th St, Prairie Village, KS 66208 or to the American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch Rd Ste 100, Overland Park, KS 66204.
