Mrs. Lois Ritter

June 10, 1919 — December 12, 2015

Lois June Ritter, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep early the morning of December 12, 2015 at Lakeview Village Retirement Community. Lois was born on June 10, 1919 in Granite City, IL to Thomas Chilton and Pearl Caitlin Graves. She graduated from William Woods College in 1939 and served in several office roles in Illinois following her graduation including a position with the FBI. She married Robert J Ritter in 1941 and they lived in East St. Louis for a number of years before the couple moved to Prairie Village, KS in 1959 where they would reside for the next 40 years. She will be remembered for her upbeat personality and ever-present smile. We mourn her loss but take comfort that she is reunited with her husband and other loved ones in heaven. The family is very thankful for compassionate care from the staff of Lakeview Village. Lois was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother and doting great-grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, son Robert Ritter, Jr. and wife Dorothy and daughter Trudy Vanderweide and husband Phil, grandchildren, Lisa and husband Jeff, Shelby and husband Joe, Kevin and wife Michelle, Mark and wife Sarah, and Jill and husband Adam, and great-grandchildren, Dalton, Abbie, Ariana, Jake, Sam, Gracie, Sophie, Eli, Zach and Bennett. Visitation will be at 1:00pm Wednesday December 16th with Funeral Services at 2:00pm and reception to follow at Johnson County Funeral Chapel at 11200 Metcalf Ave., in Overland Park, KS. The family invites contributions to be made to Great Plains SPCA or American Cancer Society.
