Loise Koppenaal, 91, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 peacefully in her sleep at a nursing facility, after an extended illness.
She was born Mamie Loise Darr on May 2, 1917 in North Miami, Oklahoma to Mamie Sala Darr and Andy Dennie Darr. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Clarence Cowan; daughter, Patricia Christmore; and two brothers, Wayne Darr and Joseph Darr. Survivors include her husband, William; sister, Elaine Sparlin and her husband, Merle; two sons, Duane Cowan and Robert Cowan and their wives; seven step-sons; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her working career was as a bookkeeper and accountant for automobile dealerships in Joplin, Detroit, and Kansas City.
Visitation will be at 1:00PM on Saturday, February 21 at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. A funeral service will follow at 2:00PM with daughters-in-law, Dottie Cowan and Rose Enne Cowan, leading the service. Entombment to take place at the D.W.
