Loralu Droegemueller

On November 23rd, Loralu (or Lora, as she was known to friends) Droegemueller passed away peacefully at Saint Luke’s Hospice House. Lora was a devoted wife and beloved mother of her two daughters. She was a steadfast and dear friend to countless others.

Lora was born in Ames, Iowa to Howard and Miriam Higbie. As a teenager, she moved to Overland Park, Kansas where she met Charlie, her high school sweetheart and future husband. Upon high school graduation, Lora attended Saint Luke’s Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse which was her career at Saint Luke’s Hospital for 42 years. After retiring, she spent time doing things that she loved such as traveling, shopping, and volunteering at Great Plains SPCA. Lora had a special place in her heart for helping animals which lives on through both of her daughters.

Lora was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Miriam Higbie, her sister, Nancy Owens, and several cherished friends. Lora is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charlie; and their two daughters, Krista and Lynn.
