Lorene Frances (Fuhrmann) Eskelson, age 89, departed this earthly life on Monday, July 16, 2007 to spend eternity with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 7, 1917, the daughter of Frank J. & Zoe Marie Fuhrmann (both deceased). Lorene was the oldest of three siblings, two brothers Phillip and Frank Fuhrmann, and a sister, Emma Louise ?Mickey? Fuhrmann, all preceding her in death. She was married to Ralph Earl Eskelson on July 30, 1942 for fifty-five years and spent her life as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Ralph preceded her in death in 1997.
Lorene is survived by two children, daughter Linda Spangler and her husband Jack of Harrisonville, Missouri; and a son, Lee Eskelson and his wife Jan of Monroe, Iowa; two granddaughters, Heather and Meghan Eskelson; great-granddaughter Anessa; and many other relatives.
Joining the Presbyterian Church at age 12, Lorene devoted her life to serving God, her family, and others. She lived in Overland Park, Kansas for over 50 years where she was a faithful and active member of the Overland Park Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, and White Shrine. Volunteering hours of service to the Braille Society, American Heart Association, and American Cancer Society was a genuine pleasure for her. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, always concerned about others and always trusting in God to guide her every step. Her life should be celebrated as a victory for Jesus- she will definitely be reunited with her Saviour in heaven.
